Greetings From Nisus Land
"Pro Review"
iPad, huh? I could say plenty about the name, but I will let others work that angle. I have no idea if it will be a hit or not, but I think the level of hype surrounding this product was ridiculous. It was never going to live up to the high expectations people had for this device. It makes me laugh when I read pundits declaring the iPad a failure when almost no one has seen it, let alone used it. Can we at least wait until it ships before we declare it a failure?
But I digress.
The reason for this newsletter is quite simple: to sell our word processors. So with that in mind, let's talk about the Macworld review of Nisus Writer Pro. In this review, the author states that "Nisus Writer Pro competes with Word better than any word processor I've seen in a very long time."
The author also praises many of the features of Pro, including the merge tool, the document tools (indexing, TOC, bookmarks), the integration with Bookends, and the overall ease of use that Pro provides. The editors of the magazine awarded Pro 4 and 1/2 mice, which is very high praise indeed!
The entire review can be read on the Macworld site.
You can purchase Pro for only $79. A three license family pack is $99. If you own Nisus Writer Express, you can upgrade for $45. A CD is available for an additional $10 plus shipping. An academic version is also available for those who qualify.
Nisus Writer Pro requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and is Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) compatible.
So, if you are serious about your writing, and you need a tool that offers compatibility, ease of use, and backing from a company that has been around for over 25 years, look no further than Nisus Writer Pro.
Tips and Tricks
"Hyphens, Hyphens Everywhere!"
Mr. R.W.D. Hambone of Passaic, New Jersey asks the following question:
"I downloaded the demo version of Nisus Writer Pro and I have to say that I really love it. However, I cannot find a way to turn on hyphenation. How do I activate that feature?"
Well Mr. Hambone, let me explain. Hyphenation is essentially a display attribute of the text. It is controlled by Apple via the operating system. To turn on hyphenation in Pro choose Allow Hyphenation from the bottom of the View menu.
However, this does not include the ever popular "soft hyphen" or the less popular non-breaking hyphen. If you need these, you can do so using Pro and a couple of macros.
The "soft hyphen" macro and the non-breaking hyphen macro can be downloaded from our Macro Repository.
You can install a macro by following these steps:
I hope this answers your question Mr. Hambone. If you have any more questions, you can post in our Macro support forum.
Now I will go back to where I came from, if I can remember where that is.
