Footnotes

Post by Roger Larkinson »

Has anyone else encountered the "Footnotes-at-the-bottom-of-the-wrong-column-obliterating footnotes already there" phenomenon? That this was what was happening was no doubt confirmed by the fact that the footnote from the second column (which arrived at the foot of the first), conformed to the (uneven) width of the second column, thus apparently showing that the application is attempting to place a footnote at the bottom of the second column, but somehow positioning it instead at the foot of the first.

footnotes disappear

Post by yaya »

lots of footnote troubles...

I'm in the process of painstakingly cutting from a classic document and pasting into a fresh Express document as "text only," then reformating systematically to try to keep things clean.

Much to my dismay, now some footnote text I've added won't show in page view or if I selct "show note text" from the view menu, even though they do show in the yellow box that appears when I land on the number referencing the note within the text (confirming that the fn text is in the document).

And now when I insert a new footnote the reference number goes in the text but there is no way to write or see the note itself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
