A question about comments

Post by JRP »

In reading back through posts, I saw some related to the size of the comment fonts, but don't know if this issue was addressed.

Is it possible to change the default font and size used in the comments?

Sorry, second question.

Is there any default hot key or a menu button to hide comments? I know there's both to add comments; it'd be nice to be able to do the same with hide.

Hello, JRP (again).

1. When you create a new note, you will notice that NWP automatically creates a new style, and automatically names it Comment. This style is a plain paragraph style, just like any other style in the document, so you can modify any of its parameters in Style Sheet View to whatever you like – font, size, color, and even alignment.

2. Open the Preferences window, then click on the Menu Keys pane. There is where you can set a hotkey for any menu command. In your case, select View, then Show Comments, then hit the hotkey that you want to associate to the menu. Note that this is a toggle, that is it shows or hides the comment pane depending on the current status, so you don't need a hotkey to show the comments and another to hide.

When you add a comment for the first time in a file, a style called Comment is added to the Style Sheet. To set a default font and attributes for Comment style of all new documents, you will have to edit the Nisus New File so that it contains Comment style.
Open the style sheet of an existing NWP file which has the Comment style, select the style, copy it and paste it in the style sheet of the Nisus New file. Make any modification to the syle that you want and save the Nisus New file. All subsequent files created will follow the Comment style defined in the Nisus New File

There is no default keyboard shotcut for Show Comments and Hide Comments commands. These two commands toggle so you can have the same shortcut of your choice for both commands. Keyboard shortcuts can be set in NWP Preferences under Menu Keys.
