applying borders to a paragraph

Post by rricks1 »

How do I apply a border around a paragraph? I selected the paragraph and then went to Borders under Table. When I clicked on the appropriated border icon, nothing happened. In fact, they seem dimmed out. What am I missing here? Thanks. RR1

Sorry, but we don't currently have this feature. If you want to imitate it, you can place your text into a table with one cell. I know it's not the same, but it will have to do for now!

...and shading at the paragraph level, too

As long as we're on the topic: I would love to apply shading at the paragraph level. I want to imitate "gray bar" paper, where every other line is highlighted by a subtle background color.

This is workaroundable with much table fiddling (this is part of a newspaper-column document) -- unless someone has a better idea?
