Hello,
I am having an issue with the spell checker. In a German text — which is correctly formatted with the language style set to German — the spell checker flags about 80% of the words, even though they are perfectly correct. What should I do?
Thanks for help

Re: check spelling problem
G'day, Ulrich et al
One thing that can do this is having the Interface Language in the Languages Preferences set to Automatic instead of to the language you select in the sidebar in the Languages Preferences window.
When you use the little Spelling Window, you can set the Language to something, but that will work for only one word if you have Languages Preferences set to Automatic. You need to reset the Language in the little Spelling Window each time to make it work for the next word.
But there may be other reasons for the issue you are experiencing.
BTW, I still try to look at the Nisus Forums each day, but I often get timeout errors. It's very disappointing. As I've said before, I'll continue using NWP for as long as my hardware and operating system allow. If I had to switch to something else, I'd probably opt for LibreOffice. I've had a bit of a look at it, just in case. Once you Customize the Toolbars to simplify them, it's not too bad to work with. You just don't have Nisus' wonderful Macro system.
I do miss the old days when the Forums were more active.
All the best to everyone.
Cheers,
Adrian

Re: check spelling problem
Thank you very much, Adryan, for your suggest. I switched the Interface Language to Automatic. After a restart of Nisus I had a German Interface instead of an English. I tried again a spellchecking of a German document and still had the same problem. Therefore I switched again to an English Interface. During this procedure I discovered, that in my language preferences after "Thesaurus" "Disabled" is selected. I have only one other choice to change that namely "English". There seems no German Thesaurus to exist.
Do you have an idea how to install a German Thesaurus?

Re: check spelling problem
Ulrich,
The Nisus thesaurus is available only in English (NWP user guide, page 42).
Incidentally, I interpret Adrian as recommending that you set language to Deutsch, not automatic, to facilitate spell checking in Deutsch. But this does not conjure up a Deutsch thesaurus, unfortunately.
