Beach ball of death and other problems

I have been using Nisus Classic for years, producing long documents with many footnotes. So that I might bring the docs to OSX, a better Nisus Express has always been looming over the horizon, but each version fails to come up to expectations as to correctly translating the Nisus Classic docs into Nisus Express.

The specifics are as follows:
1. When opening Classic docs in Express, the fonts are incorrectly translated. I get the message that Express cannot find the fonts (though the fonts are there, as the Classic doc was created on the same computer.)

2. The dreaded beach ball of death is a constant feature for the least of actions, such as changing fonts, etc.

3. Footnotes show up in Helvetica, instead of the original serif type chosen.

At this point I have ceased searching for more problems, as these render working with Express unworkable.

This is all the more disappointing as the graphical interface is so superior to Classic, and tech support has been so accomodating, yet unable to correct these problems in successive updates.

Does anyone have suggestions/solutions to these problems?

Hardware: Mac G5 1.8 ghz, 768 mb memory, OS 10.3.9, Nisus 2.5

This would seem to suggest that you have some kind of font problem, not a NWE problem. Have any of your fonts gotten corrupted?

3. Footnotes show up in Helvetica, instead of the original serif type chosen.

Change the normal style from helvetica to the one you want and see if the problem persists.
