This has been driving me bonkers. I routinely use Edit > Paste > Past Text Only, but ever since 2.1 (I think) it isn't working correctly.
The pasted text does not assume all of the surrounding attributes as the manual states, and as it did in the past. Instead, it assumes all of the attributes except one: size. No matter what the size of the surround text, Paste Text Only produces 12pt text.
Anybody else seeing this? Is this a known bug?
paste text only seems broken
Paul, I just checked and have a similar problem in 2.1.1. Similar but not identical. Edit > Paste > Paste Text Only pastes with none of the surrounding local formatting (in this case, color, size, italics, underline). It pastes with the formatting of the paragraph style minus any local formatting.
I tried the same thing in the 2.5 sneak peek, and it seems to work as expected. That is, text pasted as plain text assumes the attributes of the surrounding text. You might want to download the sneak peek and give it a try.
(If you have customized your tool drawer and don't want to lose the set-up, weigh the relative benefits.)
