Sticky table

I've got a 1X2 table that I want to extend across the page, margin to margin. I can expand it to the left but not to the right, either by dragging the corner box or resetting the tab. What am I doing wrong?

If I set the table to right justify, I can extend it to the left to solve my problem, but the question remains, why can't I extend a left justified table right?

In my experience, you should be able to. However, those corner handles aren't the way to do it. Just hover the pointer over the right edge of the table for a moment until it becomes vertical line with arrows pointing left and right, then drag.

Or better yet, use the Fit to Page button in the Table Cells palette.
