I was using this combination for a while without a major problem until recently. I'm almost done with an article for submission, added the references, and try to "Scan" from macro with NO success. I think many people can imagine my initial panic. I remember it was working a couple months a go (don't remember the versions), but not now (NWE 2.1.3 or 2.5a with Panther, Bookends 8.0-8.0.4). I can scan saved files from Bookends, which is an extra work.
Since the macro was working before, I suspect something in NWE has changed that made the macro disfunctional.
Do other people have same problem? Would it be solved by some way or in the future version of NWE?
Sorry if this was discussed before.
By the way, I'm a great fan of NW and have been using it since it was called "SoloWriter" in Japan. That's probably around 15 years ago. Well, to be honest, I tried Mellel and liked the tight link with Bookends. I really wish if Nisus also get the same function. It's not vital, but pretty handy and will probably attract lots of people.
NWE and Bookends Scan (problem and request)
Maybe you should try the Bookend forum and see if there is any solution there.

Thanks for your suggestion, MacSailor.
I first contacted Bookends side. According to him, since the macro was working in the previous versions (I don't know which versions, though), the problem was speculated to arise from recent versions of NWE. I wanted to see if other people also have same problem and what the Nisus side think about it.
It may be a good idea to start the discussion in Bookends' forum, I may do so later. Yea, I need to finish this article now.

I may have had a similar problem earlier. If my memory serves me right it got solved by opening the applescript within the /Users/yourname/Library/Application\ Support/Nisus\ Writer/Macros/Bookends\ Scan\ a\ Doc.applescript folder and then make it (force it?) to connect with the right copy (version) of NWE and Bookend.
I hope this will solve your problem.

Thanks for the posting again, MacSailor,
I've also tried that but it did not work with the versions I mentioned. Actually, J** at Sonny Software has the same problem, so the "scan" macro is no longer included in the latest version of Bookends. The support of Nisus also should have known the problem by now, and wonder how the thing is going right now. Is it causing problem only to some people? Is it NWE's problem or Bookends'?
It's not a huge deal now, I'm scanning the saved file, but hope the problem will be solved in the near future.
Let's see.
