I have a document created in NWE 2.1.3 using a combination of Devanagari MT unicode (Hindi) and roman (English) text.
I have saved the document often (unfortunately, not under multiple names) as a .rtf, then it crashed, I asked it to revert to saved version, then it crashed. The program will open new and other previously-created documents with these fonts, but crashes upon attempting opening this document. Attempting opening this document in TextEdit also causes TextEdit to crash.
I have emailed the document to NW helpline.
Ideas?
Thanks, jeremy

I hope there is a better solution that what I'm proposing. I'm throwing out this idea because this seems to be urgent.
If you have BBEdit, TextWranger or another plain text editor, you might try dragging the file onto that application's icon. This will hopefully let you see the text of your file, albeit marked up with RTF codes, possibly permitting you to troubleshoot or rescue the text. I'm not sure how it will handle the encoding.
TextWrangler is a free download from www.barebones.com.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks much
Thanks much for the suggestion. I just tried TW, doesn't seem to do it. I had hoped that b/c I knew the bomb happened on an edit of the first line, I could just delete that area and make a go of it. Not so. I do appreciate the info, though. --jeremy
