Opening a .Pages file

I just downloaded and installed Nisus Writer Express and attempted to open a .pages document that I created in Pages.
What a mess.
Is it possible to open documents that have been created in Pages?

Not directly; .pages is a proprietary format that Apple won't release to developers. From Pages, export your file to .doc/.docx and open that in Nisus, or if it's the previous version of Pages, export to .rtf and open that.

In some cases, a simple copy & paste between applications might work as well.
