Copy text with comments

Is there any way to do this? I need to copy some text, but with the comments included. And what is "append copy"?

Indeed, you can copy text with the comments included.

Select the text containing the comments and paste that text (do not use Paste Text Only) in the new location (it could be another document, or elsewhere in the same document). Your comments are copied and pasted, whether or not they are showing when you make the selection and copy.

As for Append Copy, this adds (appends) the new selection to what is already on the Clipboard. You can collect a variety of selections one after the other, appending them to the Clipboard and then, paste them all at once into the new location.
