cannot index using a wordlist

Post by feat »

I don't know what went wrong, but I can't use the index using wordlist function: I invariably get the "indexing complete, a total of 0 entries have been marked for inclusion in the index" message…

I had successfully used the very same word list to index that document on June 2008:
  • okay, this isn't the same NWP version
  • the document was revised in between
  • I wish the word list could also evolve along the text
but it simply doesn't work any longer: I've dived into the documentation again, and I believe I've scrupulously followed the assorted procedures step by step — no way!
  • I've tried to index a few other [totally unrelated] files: same behavior
  • I've tried to rebuild the word lists from scratch: idem est
the only indexing that seem to work is manually selecting words and indexing them through dialog boxes, but I'm not prepared to index hundreds of words that way…

what am I doing wrong this year?
  • is it because I've inserted new footnotes, tables and graphics?
  • or because I've changed the section numbers and margins?
  • or because I'm not aware that for each new file I try, the same corruption creeps in?
  • are there some undocumented changes in NWP 1.2 that prevent indexing from word lists?
anybody has an idea for a workaround?

Index Using Word List is broken in NW Pro 1.2.

Use the version 1.1 to index your document? IIRC older versions can be downloaded from somewhere in nisus.com but I don't have the url.
