Reformatting existing footnote references

What about changint footnotes into endnotes?
I ended up doing this manually, but I am sure there must be another way.

Does the following not work for you?

1. Select all Footnotes.
2. In the Statusbar (at bottom right of the document window), click on the
green Footnote/Endnote tag. 'Footnote' will be be checked. Check 'Endnote'
instead.
All footnotes will change to Endnotes.

Yes, Hamid's instructions are the built-in way to convert all Footnotes to Endnotes and vice versa. No need to use a macro for that.
