If you recently updated to macOS Sonoma you likely had trouble with Nisus Writer. The most serious issue is related to Apple’s updated system-wide predictive text typing feature, which consistently triggers crashes in Nisus Writer.
There are a few other Sonoma issues that affect Nisus Writer, including problems using the print dialog. We have a pre-release beta version of Nisus Writer Pro that attempts to fix the most serious of these problems.
We’re very sorry for the trouble! We hope the beta helps while we smooth out other remaining issues.
UPDATE: The beta has been superseded by new app versions that officially support macOS Sonoma.
Thank you. It appears to be helping.
Thanks for the beta release, it would be a terrible setback for me if Nisus Writer Pro ever fails to overcome the hurdles of Apple, as I love NWP.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the full release.
thanks for the beta, it doesn’t crash out when using auto-suggest now; haven’t tried printing yet – just updated to Sonoma 14.1 today (M2 MacBook Air)
I see that a beta has been released for Nisus Writer Pro for the Sonoma crashing bug. What is the status of a similar beta/fix for Nisus Writer Express as this same problem is occurring on my MacBook that that just got updated to Sonoma today? I submitted a similar request to tech support, so hopefully something will happen soon. Thank you.
That worked for a while, now I’m getting the error: “This beta copy of Nisus Writer Pro has expired.”
