May 6th, 2005 · 1 Comment

The final version of Nisus Writer Express 2.1.3 is now available at the usual place. Or, you can open Express and choose the “Check for Updates” feature in Nisus Writer Express, located under the “Nisus Writer Express” menu.

No new features have been added, as this version fixes a few issues that were disconvered after Tiger was released.

Enjoy!

this release is nice, and works well with Tiger, but i am really hoping to see some tighter integration in the upcoming 2.5 release. i’d like to see better use of apple’s built in spell checker, and the option to use apple’s dictionary and thesaurus – save us the extra 27mb install of nisus thesaurus. you guys might even find a way to put your excellent column navigation interface around apple’s thesaurus too. the autocomplete feature for text is very helpful, and it would be nice to see other new features like optional autocapitalization of the first word of a sentence -or if other sentences are capitalized.

a smoother interface – icons and toolbar in the tradition of the new mail app, the ability to change the highlight colors, to customize the toolbar with formatting options for fonts – would seal the deal.

all in alll, i am pleased with this release and prefer using this application for my word processing. i completely value the ability to save my files in the rtf format, unlike other competitors which force you to export your files as such. don’t let this great feature go – simplicity.
