"Nisus Writer Pro 2.1.1 Beta"
I’m happy to say that the Nisus Writer Pro 2.1 update went rather well. That’s not to say there were no issues, but most people are very happy with this release. I’m going to explain a couple of the more serious bugs and spell out what we are doing about them.
The most prevalent issue so far is licenses are not being picked up by the new release. Normally a new version detects the license so you don’t have to re-enter it. That’s not happening for some, and the solution is to find your license and re-enter it. To find your license, use our license lookup tool.
Another issue is with the Document Manager. If you have an existing Document Manager folder and you change it (e.g. chose a new Document Folder), the new folder is inside the old folder, and you choose to have Pro move your files, you could potentially delete an entire folder. This bug is pretty serious, so our recommendation for now is not to change your existing Document Manager folder until we can issue a fix for this bug. Also, and I can’t emphasize this enough, please backup your data. This prevents a potential catastrophe. No one wants that.
Those bugs aside, for the majority of you this release was good and pain free. However, for those of you who are affected by the above issues I encourage you to keep reading.

Normally we would release a Pro 2.1.1 after we had exterminated a number of bugs and added a few enhancements. However, rather than wait we have decided to release a Nisus Writer Pro 2.1.1 public beta that addresses the above bugs and fixes a few more that have come up since the Pro 2.1 release.
If you choose to download this beta you can do so from our Nisus Writer Pro 2.1.1 beta page. The beta requires OS X 10.7.5 and above, just as Pro 2.1.
For your own sanity please remember that this is a beta release and still in development. Bad things can happen to valuable documents, so please use copies and appropriate caution.
We hope to have the final version of Pro 2.1.1 released by early next week. I make no promises, though.
