Greetings From Nisus Land
"Apple Car? No Way!"
I’m just a man. A simple, sexy man. A man that is plugged into the tech industry and has accurately predicted many things that Apple would do. For example, I accurately predicted Apple would not release a phone. Before that, I knew they would not release a video iPod. A tablet didn’t make much sense either. Who is going to buy that? Yeah, I have a long track record of accuracy.
Now I hear they are working on a car. An electric car. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. No way. It’s a business most run away from. Maybe they are working on a car operating system, or something regarding better iPad/iPhone integration. But an electric car? I’m not buying it.
You can trust me on this. I have a well regarded track record for accuracy.
Now on to the actual newsletter, where we have news on Pro 2.1. After all, it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to (that’s for you, Leslie Gore!).
Nisus Writer Pro 2.1
"It’s coming. It really is."
A few months ago I wrote in this very newsletter that we were getting close to releasing Nisus Writer Pro 2.1. We are still working on the update but we are wrapping it up. I can’t tell you what a relief that will be, but I digress.
In the above mentioned newsletter I wrote that Pro 2.1 will be 64 bit, sandboxed, support iCloud (this includes iCloud Drive in Yosemite), and will require at least OS X 10.7.5. In this newsletter, I’d like to let you know that we have adopted the Auto Save and Versions features provided by Apple in OSX. What does that mean for users? Auto Save now saves during pauses in your work. If you work continuously Auto Save kicks in after 5 minutes. It all works in the background, and you no longer have to think about it. It’s just there and it works.
The Versions feature provided by Apple/OS X works like this: it records the history of your document as you make changes. The system creates a new version of a document each time you open it and every hour while you’re working on it. You can also create snapshots of your document whenever you like. You can see the various versions of your document under the “Revert To” menu. You can restore previous versions or parts of previous versions like text or images, all presented in an interface that is similar to Time Machine.
We hope to release this update to Pro in the very near future. I know I wrote that a few months ago but I am writing this newsletter in a final candidate version of Pro 2.1 so it’s very close. We will send out a newsletter once Pro 2.1 is released, so watch this space!
