Greetings From Nisus Land
"A Kardashian Free Zone"
I'm just going to say this up front. It may be shocking to some of you but it has to be said: this newsletter will be a Bieber/Kardashian free zone. I'll give you all a minute to let that sink in.
While I'm at it, can someone please take Justin Bieber out of here? I'm looking at you, Canada. He is your native son, please welcome him back with open arms. Or closed arms. Look, I don't really care, just take him. Don't make us catapult him across the border. The rest of the world, can you all take a Kardashian? Please? You can split them all between you. Just take them.
In other news, I have a newsletter to write so I will spare you my deep, dark thoughts on other so-called "celebrities" and hangers on that drive me to drink.
Now, after this, no more Bieber/Kardashian talk. For now.
Nisus Writer Pro
"News, Tidbits, and Nice Things"
Now that my ranting is over I'm feeling rather sunny. I feel like sharing, actually. I'll start with a link to this great article on Pro. The person who wrote this tells the truth:
Distraction free and minimalist word processors made be (sic) the trend, but a professional writer prefers a professional tool, and Nisus is one of the best.
Here is an older article that I seem to have missed, from Popular Mechanics no less! I didn't know they covered computers, let alone word processors, but there you go. Yeah, they don't like Word either, bless their hearts.
Finally, from our own forums there is a great (for us) thread about what a pleasure it is to use Pro. Being biased I would agree with that thought. However, several of the people in the forum (and in this particular thread) are unbiased and use several other word processors. Just ask them!
The point of all of this is that if you aren't using Nisus Writer Pro, why not? It's cheaper and easier to use than Word and is developed by a company that has been in the Mac business for over 25 years. Plus, we're nice people. Really! Just ask us. Additionally, you don't have to worry about security issues (more on that below).
After all that nice talk, let me just say this: you can purchase Nisus Writer Pro from our store for only $79. If you are upgrading from a previous version, the cost is $49. We have a three license family pack and an academic version.
Feel free to download the demo and give it a thorough workout. Ask questions of us or our users. When you are ready to purchase, we'll be here.
RTF Security Issue
"Nisus Not Affected"
Recently Microsoft issued what they call a security advisory regarding a vulnerability in Word and Outlook. The attack works by exploiting a bug in their RTF parsing code to take control of the application. The problem is not with the RTF file format itself, just the way Microsoft handles it.
We just want to make clear that Nisus Writer is not affected; our RTF parsing code does not have the bug that makes this attack viable. And even if it did, Nisus Writer would still not be affected by this issue because the exploit requires scripting components that are specific to Microsoft Office.
