Nisus® Software Newsletter
November 29, 2012

In this letter:

Greetings From Nisus Land
"Nisus November Sale"

People in the office say that I spend too much time playing Call of Duty 4. That is an outrage! I also spend time playing Angry Birds Star Wars. It's research people! Why doesn't anyone understand that?!?

Look, we can spend quite a bit of time playing the blame game and talking about who is a lazy so and so. Or, we can get on with the real reason this newsletter is being written.

In the USA we have just celebrated Thanksgiving. This marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. It has also brought the scourge known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Not to mention Small Business Saturday. I tend to go underground on that weekend, but many, many, many people go nuts and shop until they drop. No thanks!

So this newsletter is going to celebrate a regular ol' weekday. No cyber, black, or small anything. It's just a weekday. Who is with me?

Oh, and we are having a sale.

From now until Sunday (December 2) we are going to offer the full version of Nisus Writer Pro for $59.

We are also offering for those of you who are gift minded the Kyoto Gardens CD. This fine offering, which is a great gift, is only $25 plus shipping.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Nisus Writer Express will be offered for the unprecedented low price of $25. You read that right: $25. That's $20 off the regular price of $45. If there was ever a time to buy the latest version of Express that time is now.

These items can be purchased from our store. Nisus Writer Express and Nisus Writer Pro can be purchased from the Mac App Store. (If you do buy from the Mac App Store be sure to leave a comment for us. More comments will help our visibility within the store.)

So if you want to purchase two fine apps from a long time respected Mac developer for a huge discount now is your chance. You only have until Sunday December 2 at 11:59 PST for the pedantic amongst you.

One last thing: if you like our apps please tell your friends. We would appreciate it.

Tips and Tricks
"Saving To The Cloud"

Rock Strongo here to say Happy Thanksgiving to our American and Canadian friends. Yes, I know these holidays have passed but I was busy.

So while we all wait for Apple to make iCloud a bit more useful for sharing documents I have a tip for you about saving locally and to your preferred cloud service.

Mr. Broadly from the UK asks the following question:

"Is there a way to save all my documents to Nisus Documents and Dropbox at the same time? I use Dropbox as a back-up in case my Mac packs up one day. I just wondered if there is a way to configure things so Nisus automatically saves documents both to my desktop and and Dropbox?"

There is a very easy way to do this.

  1. Open the Preferences in Nisus Writer Pro (Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences)
  2. Click the Saving tab.
  3. Find Backups: Save duplicate file of each copy to another location.
  4. Turn on the checkbox.
  5. Click the Choose button and, in the variant of the Open dialog that appears, navigate to your Dropbox folder.
  6. You may want to create a new "Nisus Writer Documents Backup" folder there, then click Choose Folder.

Once you do that all of your documents created in Pro (and Express!) will be saved to your Dropbox folder.
