Greetings From Nisus Land
"Back To School with Express and Pro"
It's late August, so that means back to school time. I remember not looking forward to late August/early September. I didn't want to go back to school. It was warm, and school seemed so distant. Now, I can't wait for school to start so we older folks can reclaim our streets from the fowl stench of youth!
Anyway, we offer academic pricing on both Nisus Writer Express and Nisus Writer Pro. Express is $26 and can be purchased on this page. Pro is $39 and can be purchased here. The only differences in these versions and the regular versions of these apps is the price and there is no upgrade option. Apart from those two differences, they are the same.
So if you are an academic, a student, or work for an academic institution, please do yourself a favor and take advantage of the academic pricing of either of these fine apps. Hey, buy them both and support a fine Macintosh developer.
Yeah, I didn't think that would work, but I had to try. Didn't I?
Signal to Noise Podcast
"Express Reviewed"
Aaron Linson is in college, uses a Mac, and is blind. For as long as he has used a Mac he has been looking for a word processor that fits his needs. Is Nisus Writer Express the one for him? Listen to the podcast to find out.
You can find out if Express is the one for you by checking out our Express page. There you can read all about Express, its features, and even purchase. If you want to try it first you can download the demo. We are sure that if you are looking for a light, but feature-filled word processor Express will fit your needs.
Nisus Writer Express 3.4.3 requires OS X 10.6.6 or higher.
If you would like to listen to more of Aaron's podcasts go to this page.
Nisus Writer Pro
"Singing Pro's Praises"
The other day we received this wonderful email:
I rarely drop emails to software houses, as I rarely have cause.
For the last several years, however, a demon conspiracy required me (so I had thought) to use MS Word in my Windows-centric office environment, in order to collaborate on documents via tracked changes. More times than I recall, MS Office (up to and including Office 11 under Lion/Mountain Lion) stuttered, hung, and froze under the weight of copious mark-ups and comments and lost me meaningful hours of editing. At wits' end I tried Nisus Writer Pro.
Result: the evil demon has been exorcized, and blackness has turned to light. I find Writer Pro fast, stable, and better at tracking changes than Microbloat. The Nisus team is to be commended. Probably sainted.
Thanks and kudos!
Michael
We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
If you would like to find out what Michael is excited about, check out Nisus Writer Pro. At $79 it is a steal! It has all of the features that you need without the bloat you can do without. It plays well with others (Pro can open .doc, .docx, and .odt files). Pro does bibliographies right with the help of Bookends. Plus, Pro is the perfect partner for Scrivener (the developers of Scrivener love Nisus Writer Pro and recommend it for use with their app).
For more information, or to purchase Nisus Writer Pro please visit this page. You can download the free 15 non-consecutive day demo here.
Nisus Writer Pro requires OS X 10.6.6 or above.
So if you are looking for a flexible, bloat-free writing experience, Nisus Writer Pro is your choice!
Mac App Store Update
We had been hoping for better news, but so far Nisus Writer Express and Nisus Writer Pro have been "waiting for review" at the Mac App Store since early August. We have had no further updates since that time.
I have read that the average wait for apps waiting to be reviewed in the App Store is 22 days. We are almost halfway there. We will have further updates when Express and Pro have been released.
