It isn't every day that Macworld reviews our applications. It would be weird if they did, don't you think? Anyway, since the last newsletter Macworld has posted their thorough reviews of both Nisus Writer Express and Nisus Writer Pro.
Nisus Writer Express was given a 3.5 out of 5 rating. The reviewer stated "...Nisus Writer Express is a very decent basic word processor. If you want to write business letters, school papers (including papers with extensive notes, graphics, and tables), or simply do basic text editing, Nisus Writer Express will do a great job. And it's a pleasure to use."
Macworld gave Nisus Writer Pro a 4.5 out 5 rating. In his extensive review William Porter wrote the following:
...Nisus Writer Pro 2.0.0 impressed me so much that I may begin to go to it rather than Pages for most of my writing. True, Pages does a fair bit of what Nisus Writer Pro does and costs less. But Nisus Writer Pro's higher price is still not unreasonable. And there are things about Nisus Writer Pro's user interface (like writing in Draft View) and about its special features (including PowerFind) that I, at least, find hard to resist. And although I don't need Nisus Writer Pro's long-document features often, I think it makes sense to spend a few more dollars and get Nisus Writer Pro.

"We Get Letters Part 65"
We get letters. Quite a few of them, actually. Since the Apple World Wide Developer Conference we have received quite a few emails asking us about the various announcements at WWDC.
The first email asked the following question:
"I read that Apple has announced Mountain Lion and that it will be released in July. Will you be updating your products to be ready for Mountain Lion soon?"
Yes, we will be updating our products for Mountain Lion and they should be ready before Mountain Lion ships. We will have more news on that when the release date for Mountain Lion is announced.
In another email, a user has a question about the new Retina display MacBook Pro:
"I will be purchasing a new MacBook Pro with the Retina display. Will Nisus update Pro with new graphics?"
Since we are using Apple's text engine, our apps should automatically take advantage of the new higher resolution, or Retina displays. However, a few ancillary parts of our apps will need to be manually redone, like toolbar icons, but these are small in number and do not affect text display. This isn't a high priority item, but it has to be done since it is inevitable that most if not all portable Macs and the iMac will ship with Retina displays.
One last email:
"Will you support iCloud?"
Mountain Lion adds support for document storage in iCloud. We would like to support that feature, but it comes at a cost. We can only offer iCloud document support through the Mac App Store. We cannot offer this feature in the applications we sell through our store. We are not thrilled by this decision, but it doesn't look like it will be changing anytime soon. We are still mulling over options on this particular feature.
