Greetings From Nisus Land
Labor Day Sale!
"Why put on new socks?" I asked myself while working. "I'll only have to take them off a week later."
That's what I was thinking when I realized the Labor Day holiday here in the US was coming up. We get a federal holiday, just to goof off and be lazy and eat horribly. What's not to like?
I have even better news, for those of you who like to write. We are having a Labor Day sale! That's right, from now until midnight, 7 September, we are taking 20 percent off of both Nisus Writer Express and Nisus Writer Pro at our store. Just use the coupon code "laborday" in the shopping cart to receive the discount.
So, while we goof off, you can save money.
That's a pretty good combination, I would say.
Nisus Writer Pro 1.3.1 Beta 2
"More Testing Means More Fixes"
Snow Leopard has been out for a week, and the reviews are almost overwhelmingly positive. Nisus Writer Pro 1.3.1 beta has been out for the same amount of time, and the reviews have been pretty good for us too. But, there are always things to improve on, so now we introduce Nisus Writer Pro 1.3.1 beta 2. This has squashed a Snow Leopard related bug or two, and added few general fixes.
You can download this new version from our Nisus Writer Pro Snow Leopard page. For the completist, the release notes can be found on the same page.
Nisus Writer Pro is a Universal Binary and requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or above.
Hopefully we will release the final version of Pro 1.3.1 soon. We will send out a notice for our newsletter subscribers (that's you folks) when that occurs.

Another Snow Leopard Tip
Most of us are still getting used to our new installation of Snow Leopard. It's such a massive overhaul internally that new features, additions, and subtractions are being discovered every day. Here is one that is of importance to you, our wonderful users (yes, I am sucking up here).
One of our engineers, who doesn't want to be named for what he calls "legal and privacy reasons" found an interesting tidbit while experimenting with 10.6. Anyway, Martin (doh!) sent an email around the office explaining what he found:
In previous versions of Mac OS X a user could use "Get Info" in the Finder to control which localization(s) a particular application was launched with, eg: they could disable all but one localization to force an application GUI into a certain translation.
Leopard Get InfoThis is no more. Snow Leopard removed the feature and doesn't appear to have an equivalent.
Snow Leopard Get InfoA user can now only:
Well, that's progress for you!
