Greetings From Nisus Land
If I Could Talk I'd Tell You
Well, what do you know? I am going green! But, it isn't what you think it is. I ate a sandwich that has been in the refrigerator for a while, and I think it is coming back to haunt me. Or assault me. Sorry, I don't know why I shared that tidbit.
Anyway, enough of that subject. Let me get on to a new, even more upsetting subject.
As some of you may know, I was transferred (traded, really) to another software company last week. Their offices are 6 blocks further away than where I am working now, which is not a selling point, as I am lazy. What's more upsetting, though, is what I was traded for. As I understand it, they were willing to send a bag of slightly rotten tomatoes, an unidentified piece of fruit, a fairly new mop with bucket, two hard drives, and a monitor that quite possibly worked at one time.
When I found this out, I was furious! I mean, I could understand the other stuff, but a non-working monitor? That's the sweetest plumb!
I had a meeting with human resources later that day and I, having been around for a long time, rejected the transfer. Now Nisus has to put up with me for quite a while longer. And, I got the last (for now) laugh!
Take that, non-working monitor!
Besides venting my frustrations, the reason for this newsletter is a happy one: The release of Nisus Writer Pro 1.3. There are new features and fixes, which I will detail later in this newsletter.
Nisus Writer Pro 1.3
New Document Manager, Many, Many Fixes
I am very happy to announce the release of Nisus Writer Pro 1.3. Seriously, I am!
Nisus Writer Pro 1.3 adds a completely new document manager. The document manager now can manage any file on your drive, regardless of its location. You can create file groups, or use the predefined smart groups. There is also a style library, and an advanced search that leverages Apple's Spotlight technology.
Also added was a selection history (allowing users to jump to prior editing locations), an option to automatically capitalize the first word of each sentence during typing, the ability to attach the active document to a new email message (in Mail.app and Entourage only), and you can now turn any menu into a toolbar item.
Other new features include character/word/paragraph count as an automatic number, menus to invert the selection, select all document areas, expand the selection to full word/sentence/paragraph. A preference allows language switches to affect font size. Triple click selects a sentence and quadruple click selects a paragraph.
There have also been additions to the Nisus Macro Language, and a host of bug fixes and other enhancements. The full list of features and fixes can be read at our Pro release notes page.
Nisus Writer Pro is a Universal Binary and requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or above.
This release is a free update to current license holders of Nisus Writer Pro. For those who haven't made the jump to Pro, see below.
I have been told that there have been more than 300 changes in this release, most of them for the better! So, in order to avoid public embarrassment by not having the latest version, you can download the new release from our Nisus Writer Pro product page.
You don't want to be a laughing stock, do you?
