Old Machines Are Good Machines

I have been working here at Nisus for 67 of the last 91 years. Believe me, I have seen it all. Or at least I thought I have seen it all. But, every so often things come up that just astound you. However, that hasn't happened lately, so I am now prepared to bore you silly.

Anyway, I have been here long enough to have seen many interesting (and not so interesting) machines. I am still a big fan of the PowerMac G4 machines, and we had several. We have a very early box (I believe it is a Yikes! model) that is still on duty serving us in various capacities. Unfortunately, I was crushed to learn that our dual G4 (Mirror Drive Door) computers have died. Thankfully, they went in their sleep. The machines will be recycled, but that left us without testing machines. So I searched and searched until I found a great workhorse for cheap: a G4 Mac Mini.

I love older Macs, and this one, though it isn't that old, is a great machine. Quiet, small, and just keeps on going. Well, hopefully it keeps going. Generally we have had great luck with our machines, and I really hope that luck holds out. We still have a few original iMacs that have been on constantly for 9 years now.

So the moral of this story is simple: when I say that I am going to bore you, listen! I don't say things like that for my health.

Asking For The Sale

Sometimes people write in and tell us that we don't spend enough time asking for the sale. Of course, when they do that, they also offer their "surprisingly affordable" services, so these things are taken with a grain of salt, whatever that means.

We also added the Sparkle framework to manage our updates, and added an item to the Services menu which allows creating a new Nisus Writer Express document from selected content in another application. This release is a free update to current license holders of Nisus Writer Express 3.x

Nisus Writer Express 3.2 is a universal binary and requires Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) or later.
