Nisus® Software Newsletter
August 22, 2008

In this letter:

Greetings From Nisus Land
It's In The Clouds For Some Reason

I find it amazing that people stare at me for wearing a grocery bag instead of my pants. It's no big deal really. The bag is comfy, and gives me a freedom I don't have with pants. And they are cheap. Or, I am just being green.

Come on people, work with me here!

OK, the real reason is because I have forgotten where I put my pants.

Yes, I feel like a jerk. Happy now?

Me too.

Anyway, let me get started by saying that the term cloud computing has been thrown around a lot lately. Now I am not sure why this so called cloud computing thing is interesting to so many people.

When I think of clouds, I think of these. When I think of computing, I think of this. Why do I want my important documents in a cloud? I mean, it's crazy ... crazy I tell you!

I'm telling you, clouds are for rain, and for keeping things cool in the winter, and warm in the summer. Or is that the other way around? In any event, clouds are not for keeping your important documents. Or your mail.

At least not yet, anyway.

And, whatever you do, always keep your pants where you can find them. You never know when you may actually need them.

Nisus Writer Express 3.1 Released
New Version, New Features

Because we like to keep busy, we have released a new version of Nisus Writer Express.

Nisus Writer Express 3.1 adds new features such as Go to Page, a large caret option, Danish and Polish localizations, and you can now see either physical or virtual page numbers. Mac OS X 10.5.x users can read .docx and .odt files. There are also numerous changes, bug fixes and enhancements. The full list of changes in this version are on our release notes page.

You can purchase Nisus Writer Express 3.1 for only $45. A three license Family Pack is $79. You can upgrade from Express versions 1.x and 2.x for $30. And if you are an academic, student, or yes, even a grad student, the cost is only $26. That version can be purchased from our Express academic version page.

For those of you who are current licensed users of Express 3.x, this update is free.

Nisus Writer Express 3.1 is a Universal Binary and requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and above.

We highly encourage you to download the fully working 15 day demo. It's the only way to get a feel for what Express can really do.

We are finished now, so you can go back to pretending to care about the Olympics.

Nisus Writer Pro Printed Manual
Now Updated for Pro 1.1

Last newsletter, I wrote that we have updated our Nisus Writer Pro printed manual. This newsletter, I will do the same, because I like to recycle as much old material as I can.

Against my better judgement, we have updated the printed Nisus Writer Pro manual with the latest features of Pro 1.1. Look, this was hard work, and I am opposed to that because ... well, I don't like to work, OK? It's just not my thing.

The cost is $25 plus shipping, and you can purchase it immediately from our store.

So if you would like a perfect bound 380 or so page hard copy manual to go along with your new copy of Nisus Writer Pro, please feel free to order and enjoy.
