Greetings From Nisus Land
"It's Hot, and So Is Apple"
When I walk the streets of downtown Solana Beach, people are always pointing and yelling at me to leave town. Or head butting me. First, I have no idea how these people even know who I am. Second, I would rather have them do what they used to do: release the hounds. It was great exercise, and loads of fun to boot!
Anyway, I don't understand this yelling, especially since the voters will decide if I stay or go in November. By the way, if you live in Solana Beach, CA, vote no on Proposition 263.
I find it disturbing that my fellow coworkers are for this proposition. Oh, they will pay for that.
Now that the World Cup is over, and my team lost (I really thought that the US Virgin Islands had a great chance this year!) it is time to move on to more serious things. I would do that, but I suspect that there are many, many people who think that there is nothing more serious than the World Cup.
They are right. But, we need to move on.
Apple announced their earnings for the last quarter, and as usual (lately) there is big profit. Lots of iPod sales for sure, but the surprising tidbit to me was that Macintosh sales are up in a big way. Well over a million Macs shipped, and out of all of these computers sold, 75 percent were Intel-based.
The most impressive statistic is this: 50 percent of Mac purchases from the Apple retail stores were made by first-time Mac owners.
So it appears that those Mac ads are working. Who'd a thunk it? For now, the days of relative obscurity are over. Now when I go to the airport, or local coffee houses, you see many glowing Apple logos. It feels ... odd to me now.
Maybe I should try Linux as my primary OS. Who knows, I might like it. Hey, I could give up the Mac for something else.
Yeah, right.

"The Case of The Missing Icons"
Rock Strongo here, just in time to inform and infuriate.
There have been reports from various classic Nisus users that after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.7, their Nisus Writer Classic files lose their association to Nisus Writer Classic. Which is to say, when you double click on them, they will open in TextEdit instead of Nisus Writer.
Thanks to one of our users, you can regain that association by using a special droplet.
You can read all about it on our support site.
Now, back to my summer job of watching the horses at the track. What? Why are you looking at me like that? It's a hobby, nothing more.
