In this letter:

Greetings From Nisus Land
"Nisus Writer Express 2.6 Now Available"

We are very happy to announce that Nisus Writer Express 2.6 is now available for your downloading and purchasing pleasure.

Express 2.6 adds new features such as an optional WYSIWYG font menu, smart to straight quote conversion and vice versa, it restores all document settings when reopened, a preference to reopen the last set of documents when Express is launched, and bug fixes and enhancements galore.

Oh, I almost forgot. This new version also has French and German localizations. Hey, I'm just sayin' ...

You can download this new version from our Express product page.

The cost is $69.95 for the download, $79.95 for the CD version plus shipping. For the academics amongst you, the cost is only $39.95. For those of you who have irritated me over the last year or so, the price is $99.95. OK, I am kidding about that. Maybe.

If you have already purchased Nisus Writer Express, this is a free upgrade. Hey, don't say we have never given you anything.

We haven't. Just don't say that.

So to sum up: Express 2.6 available now. Download now. Purchase now, or in the near future.

Enjoy!

Macworld Wrap Up
"MacBook Pro? Really?"

So Macworld is over, and it was interesting to say the least. Almost everyone thought that Apple would release new computers with Intel CPU's in them, but the thinking was that these machines would be MacMinis or iBooks. Imagine the surprise when Steve Jobs introduced the Intel iMac and, the biggest surprise of all, the MacBook Pro, which is the replacement for the PowerBook.

I can't say that I am fond of the name MacBook Pro. It doesn't roll off the tongue like PowerBook. During the keynote, Jobs said that they wanted "Mac" to be part of the name. Well, good luck with that.

As for the machines themselves, they are very nice. You wouldn't know what processor they are running, as OS X on Intel looks like OS X on PowerPC. Well, except that the Intel machines are faster and more responsive. Much more, to be honest. Unless you own the top of the line PowerMac G5, the speed of most applications will surprise you. Believe me, it will be a nice surprise.

Which leads me to the inevitable question: When will Nisus produce an Intel version of Nisus Writer Express? Well smart guy, do you have an Intel iMac yet? You do? Oh ... ok, then I will answer the question then.

Now that we are finished with Express 2.6, we can now work on a Universal Binary of Express. In theory, this should not take long, but we shall see. We have one of the new machines on order from Apple, and once we get that we can test properly.

Anyway, you can expect an update on this in the very near future.

In the meantime, feel free to purchase one of these new machines for yourself. Go ahead, be a pioneer! We dare you.

Tips and Tricks
"Paste Text Only"

Rock Strongo here, and boy am I tired. However, I have just enough energy to answer an email for you ... people.

A Dr. Zoomani of the Ivory Coast asks "I love Express! But, sometimes I do research on the Web and I copy and paste text into Express. However, when I do that the text is formatted as it is on the web page. Is there a quick way to change that?"

Good question! Now I suppose you want an answer. Fine. I'll give you your answer.

Rock (Rock likes to talk about Rock in the third person) likes to carefully select the text of a Web page so that he doesn't get the advertisements, but does get the headline and any graphics and hyperlinks that may be associated with a story. Then he pastes that into a Nisus Writer Express document (which preserves all that info).

But, if you want to lose all the hyperlinks that may have been in the Web page, choose Paste Text Only when you paste the stuff into your Nisus Writer Express document! Hey, no skin off my teeth.

Any other questions? Good! I'm too tired to deal with any more.

Until next time, this is Rock Strongo saying GO AWAY!
