Opening MS word files

I just can't do it. In NW6 I could open some files through the Catalog menu, but I've now moved to OSX and in NWE any attempt to open a MSW file either freezes NWE or opens a blank page.

There's nothing in Help, so, please, help!

Thanks.

Iain.

Hi, are you trying to open a file ending with an extension ".doc" or ".msw"?

No... why, should I? I generally don't use filename extensions (although I notice OSX does).

Hi Iain:

Mac OS X relies much more on file extensions than on Type/Creator codes were used in OS 9. You might want to try renaming the file to end in ".doc" and see if that makes the file open correctly.

Hi Charles,

I tried after your last response, but neither a .doc nor a .msw extension make a differrence. The file opens completely empty, not even a gremlin, as far as I can see.

I know it's not empty because I emailed it to a colleague who uses word who printed it out for me.

Anything else I can try?

Iain.
