A couple of straightforward questions:

1) Is it possible to work in page view without seeing the margins? On a small screen it is such a waste of space. The margins disappear in Draft view, but then you lose the formatting.
Basically, I'm afraid I'd like the view to be the same as Word's Normal view. Sorry to mention that, but it's true. I just don't see the point of always staring at those margins.

2) Is there anyway to always have the text you are working on at the top of the screen, rather than stuck at the bottom? In other words, is there any way to have it automatically scroll up as you type down the screen? Unfortunately, in Draft, it doesn't even seem possible to scroll manually, and I'm getting an aching neck.

I don't understand your concern. I use both a 14"screen and a 20" screen, and I set the viewing magnification at 128%. Because of the wide screen formats, sure I'm going to see margins. I find that hiding the tool bar allows me to fill the screen with just the writing page in front of me. I don't show rulers, only a one-line tool bar. It's actually very close, in looks, to Word, in my opinion.

On a 12 inch power book, seeing the margins is a waste of space.
It is possible to get rid of them by adjusting the size ratio and the slider at the bottom, but this is fiddly and only temporary: you have to adjust it each time you change view and reopen the window.
If you can live with it, that's fine. I'd just like to know if there is a quick way to change the view

I experienced some of the frustration that TimK is talking about. Fortunately, I have a 15" PowerBook, so I have the luxury of wasting real estate on the display.

I'd like to see a "Show Margin Width" option on the Page Zoom palette and in the View menu (along with "Show Page Width" and "Show Entire Page"). This would need to be grayed out for Draft View, of course, just as "Show Page Width" and "Show Entire Page" are in Style Sheet view.

If in addition to that there could be a page view option in Preferences, under New Document > View, that would solve Tim's first problem.
