Resizing images

I've test-driven NWE 2.0.1 with a little report, with some formatting, footnotes, tables and graphics.
Everything went well, even if I discovered the "not proportional resize for large images" I was able to get around that.
The problem is that, even if the resized images looked good in NWE, when I printed the document they were not scaled to the desired proportions, but were simply cropped, starting from the lower left corner.
I was even more surprised when I closed and reopened the document: then all the images were cropped even in NWE.
The images were all screenshots in PDF. Is this a problem only with PDF, or it's a known issue? I often make report with screenshots, and I cannot resize each one before insertion in the document.
For the "vote-your-favorite-feature poll", it's definitely auto-numbering of lists, paragraphs and so on: a lot of Word documents use that, and I've a lot of trouble opening them.
