Word count options

Post by lindajconrad »

Is there a way to change the word count options so it does not count a word divided by a hyphen or two numbers separated by a hyphen as two words? Thanks! -Linda

Hello Linda,
as you may have gathered from the silence, there is no such option. But there are other options.
If all you want is a quick count of the words in a particular section, you can use the "Find and Replace" feature, to count the words. Do this you would need to use "Powerfind" (or "Powerfind Pro"). An expression which gives more or less the same count as the built-in word count while counting words with hyphens only once, would look like this:

To make this kind of thing easier to use, it can be saved as a macro. Below I provide a macro that uses this expression to count all the words in a selection. If there is no selection it will select the whole document and count that.
