Opening Nisus 6.5 files

I am currently using Nisus Pro 1.0.2.

I have many files that I created in Nisus classic 6.5. They contain Hebrew and English, and have sections of Hebrew text inserted as a graphic. Is there any way to read these old files with Nisus pro?

NWP should be able to open your mixed English/Hebrew Classic documents just fine, though I would recommend using the latest version of NWP (1.2). The way text is stored in Classic documents is inextricably linked to the fonts that were used, which may no longer be available, leading to garbled text. We continually add support for text marked in these old fonts as we discover them, so the latest version of NWP may do better.

However, you mention that your Hebrew text was inserted as a graphic. Depending on how that graphic was generated, there may be a problem. Certain graphic formats from the Classic era store text in the same way that Nisus Writer Classic did, eg: the integrity of the text is tied to whether or not the font is available. Unfortunately OSX itself is responsible for drawing these kinds of graphics, and does not have the same kind of correcting mechanisms that NWP includes. Thus, if the font used in the graphic is unknown to OSX, the text in the graphic may be garbled.

Bob -

in case you still have the old font available somewhere - try drop it into Your Libray/Fonts Folder. I got all fonts of old running on OS X - give it a try...
