Macros don't work. Whatever the macro is, an error message occurs:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
	LC_ALL = (unset),
	LANG = "fr"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

Of course, I don't understand this message ! Thank you for your help. (I use the french version of Leopard.)

I've never seen this error before. I've done some searching online and the message indicates that your Perl locale settings may be misconfigured. Have you been playing with your Perl environment recently? This issue is specific to Perl and it's best you fix it by following what the Perl manual has to say on this issue.
