Hi,
I like the WYSIWYG feature of the font list (as I did with
Apple works) but I have a lot of fonts installed for
music notation that I don't need at all when writing
in NWX -- is there any way of excluding them from the list?

(I recently downloaded and installed Linotype FontExplorer X
which I hoped would do this trick for me, but apparently it doesn't
- or I couldn't figure it out)

any ideas?

There's no way to disable fonts just for NWX, but you can use Apple's Font Book application to quickly enabled and disable font collections.
