Exported Word files open using ArialMT

I am pulling my hair out here... I write a document in Nisus using Arial as the font. I export to Word format. I opne the .doc in Word. The font has changed to ArialMT!
Then in Word when I change the font, the file size almost doubles!
Why isn't the font sticking when exported to Word format?
