NWE 2.5 System Requirement Alert!

The email announcing release of NWE 2.5 gives no hint that the new version requires OS 10.3. Previous versions worked with OS 10.2. The release announcement linked me to a download page which reveals the system requirement in what essentially amounts to a footnote located at the lower right corner of the download page. Without an adquate alert I proceeded to download and install NWE 2.5 which of course does not work on my OS 10.2. Since I replaced my previous version it was necessary to navigate my way to the download page for previous version of NWE that will work on my system.

Shouldn't the new system requirement be more prominently displayed in the release notice? On the download page?

Perhaps another email announcement should go with an alert to the system requirement and a link to the download page in case I'm not the only one who got blindsided by this release.

The page has "System Requirements" displayed in bold heading, what more do you want? They didn't keep it a secret. If you downloaded and installed a major new release of a software product without first checking what version of the OS it requires I don't think it's very fair to blame the vendor. If you didn't take a backup of your existing version and/or system before installing the new version you can't really blame anyone but yourself.

As you are presumably aware OS X 10.2 has been obsolete for over 2 years now. Apple and most third-party software vendors offer, at most, only limited support for it nowadays. If you wish to remain on obsolete OS releases that is your right, but then you're pretty much stuck with using similarly obsolete versions of your applications too.
