I wasn't able to find this in the Help:

I tried to insert a footnote/endnote within a table cell. However, footnote and endnote are greyed out.

Is this intended behavior?

It seems faster on my machine--great job guys!

Yes, this behavior is correct. We currently do not support footnotes/endnotes within table cells.
