Mac Character Pallette

When I launch NWE the icon in the menu bar which opens the Mac OS character pallette disappears. I thought that I might locate the Mac pallette under the Edit menu item but it is not there.
I am probably overlooking the obvious answer but can someone please help?

I'm able to access the Mac OS X Character Palette two ways: under the NWE Edit menu and under the language menulet. Is that what you were referring to?

If not and if you want to display the language menulet in the menu bar, open System Preferences, click International, click the Input Menu tab, and check the "Show input menu in menu bar item." (At least that's how it works in OS X 10.3.)

I remember reading in other posts that this menu/menulet item takes different places on different systems. I have no idea why.

Actually, my point is that normally I can access the character pallette in the two ways you describe when I am using other applications (e.g., TextEdit, etc).
But when I am in NWE (only) the menu item is not included in the Edit menu nor does the"international" icon appear in the menu bar.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I thought you meant an icon specifically for the Character Palette in the menu bar rather than the input menu. I'm afraid I have no idea why it disappears. Anybody out there able to help?
