drag and drop adds space

RRR. I am not happy with the "feature" that is adding a space to text I drag and drop somewhere else. I select the text and drag it somewhere else and I get an unwanted space after it when I release it. I have to then delete the space. It is not convenient. Please tell me how to get rid of the "feature."
Note: I just found that it also happens when I use cut-and-paste commands. RRRRR.
