Non-floating Character Viewer

Post by adryan »

G’day, all

I find the Character Viewer one of the most useful features of the Mac, but also one of its most annoying. Even in its minimized form, it is too intrusive when one is not actually consulting it.

Does anyone know of a Terminal command to make the Character Viewer window non-floating, as one can do with the Help Viewer window?

I realize that Character Viewer parameters are associated with Applications, and hence that the Character Viewer window can have a variety of manifestations. I would be satisfied if just the Character Viewer window associated with Nisus Writer could be made non-floating.

I know I could make a Keyboard Shortcut to show and hide the Character Viewer, but a non-floating version would suit me better, I think.

Cheers,
