Tiered Numbering on existing text

Post by hhm »

Forgive me if this is a repeat issue, I did snoop the forum and faq first.

I opened an RTF doc (from OmniOutliner) and tried to apply a Tiered Heading style to my existing headings, but the numbering would not increment from one heading to the next. It appears to work as expected when the text is entered into NWX (ie when the doc is created in NWX and not imported for after-the-fact styling)

For example, I apply the "heading1" style to a line and it gets numbered "1.". Now I want to go to the next level 1 heading and assign the style so that it gets numbered "2.", but it gets numbered "1.".

Any help appreciated.

1. Go to the Style Sheet.
2. Select the list style you want to use.
3. Make sure the "Continue throughout document" box is checked.

I think that should help.
