Tacitus wrote:I tried using Mellel a while back when the first versions of NWE came out. I too liked the integration with Bookends but got fed up with the Mellel interface and came back to NWE2.5 which I now use regularly.
I can agree on that the learning curve in the case of Mellel is quite steep, but as soon as you have managed to pass that, it'll work like a charm.
Tacitus wrote: I have argued in the past that Nisus should produce a set of plug-in APIs that anyone like BEnds can, well, plug in to. This may be covered within the Cocoa APIs already, but perhaps someone from Nisus could tell us
That may solve the problem of time and manpower and make it easier for other companies to work together with, in this case, Nisus. Indeed a very good suggestion. Hope it will materialize.
Tacitus wrote:For me the current level of integration is usable since I use footnotes rather than Harvard system, so cmnd-K from within BEnds generally works fine. I must admit that better integration would be nice.
At the Lund University, where I'm currently studying Political Science, they recommended us to use the Harvard system instead of the Oxford system. I used the Oxford system when I began my studies, but now I have more or less switched to the Harvard system, so the way Bookend and Mellel are integrated with each other is perfect for me.
