Formatting and Deleting

Post by AndyS »

Is there a way to prevent formatting choices from disappearing when all of the formatted text is deleted?

For instance, I'm typing away in Normal style, but want to make a couple of words italic. After typing these italic words, however, i want to change them. i press the Delete key a few times until they're gone, then I start typing again, and the text is no longer italic.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi, Andy.

You have the same wish that I do. There is an earlier discussion on the topic here, but the discussion petered out quickly. It also got kind of sidetracked.

I still like my suggested solution for the problem that you described: that, when one deletes formatted or styled text, the formatting or style should not disappear without further user intervention (deleting more text, moving the insertion point, closing the document, or making a style or formatting change).

This, of course, isn't an immediate solution for you, but I would prefer Nisus Writer Express to work that way. What do you think?

Andy:

As Craig mentioned, others have told us they want Nisus Writer to behave this way also. The next release will make Nisus Writer Express keep the attributes you set until you move your cursor or do something else like that.

Charles, that's great to hear. Thanks for listening to your customers. It's a small thing, but it will improve the user experience, I think.
