How do I remove the highlighting from the footnote reference

I would like to know how to remove the highlight style from the footnote reference number in my document? Thank you.

Footnotes reference numbers do not actually come out highlighted in printing. It is only a display issue which is intended to distinguish reference numbers from others. . If you prefer to see the numbers with no mark at all, go to Preferences>appearance. at the bottom of the window choose under "customizable colors" "automatic text" and then "note references" in the center. then mark "hide this highlighting".
