Re: Is this TOC flavor possible to achieve?
I don't think Nisus will do this without help, but where there's a will there's a way. Use Tools->Table of Contents->Insert TOC. Manually edit the TOC without deleting any page numbers. As you add and remove pages, use Tools->Table of Contents->Rebuild TOC with the option to only update page numbers...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker
The time I most wished for page styles was when I was participating in two writing groups. Each group had its own very strict style guidelines, including header and footer layout. I always thought those rules were a bit much, but I was a guest and conformed without comment. Swapping style sets did e...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker
Ditto on NWP's styles. Most what you do in Scrivener's compile, at least when compiling to word processing formats, is easier and quicker with Nisus style sets. If I were to wish for a change, it would be to have page styles included in the style set. That would make documents complete chameleons. P...

Re: Making Image Float
I'll second Affinity Publisher. If Nisus disappeared (horrors!) BBEdit plus Affinity Publisher would allow some pale shadow of civilization to continue. If BBEdit and AP went away as well, I guess clay and a sharp stick would have to do. Anything but the hegemony we dare not name. Shudder - what if ...

Re: Making Image Float
I think I can help. Click on your image. Resize with drag handles to suit your taste. Click the "palettes" button in the tool bar to display the palettes, if they are not already in view. Choose the fifth button to the right to choose the shapes palette. This is in the line of buttons that...

Re: No Floats With Paragraph images in Draft View?
That's probably correct. If I drag an image into draft view I can see it, but if I change its type to float with paragraph or page, I get a prompt saying I can only see and edit images in page view. That makes sense. An image inline with text is a more known quantity than one that floats. To know wh...

Re: Password protect a file?
An encrypted disk image is like an encrypted filesystem. Without the password, it's meaningless, random-looking, data. Decrypted with the password, your OS can treat it as if it were a disk drive. You see it in the Finder just like you would an external USB device, or your internal drive. It's just ...

Re: Password protect a file?
Another way would be to create an encrypted dynamic-sized disk image. Mount the image by double-clicking it, then put one or more files in it. The image file starts out small and grows as needed to the maximum you set when you create the image. It won't shrink. If you need to reclaim space, you have...

Re: Center and Right Alignment Buttons
This may be local to your installation - the buttons work as expected here. Could it be an icon cache issue, displaying the wrong image? The order of the buttons I see is left, center, right, and fully justified. If you don't see them in that order, maybe the icons are being presented incorrectly as...

The powers and abilities of lists
I thought I would post some observations about lists, because this is simple stuff I've overlooked forever. Lists (bullets, numbered) were always a little bit of a pain because they never looked right until I selected the list and applied a better paragraph style. For my fellow slow learners who hav...

Re: Indents
Adryan, I understand your point about styles. They are tools to navigate the path, not the product, they aren't the only tools we can use, and typography only matters so much.
The play's the thing.

Re: Indents
The last paragraph is interesting. I see what you mean about the left indent acting as a tab stop. You've got one tab stop defined and two leading tab characters. The second tab lands the cursor at the left indent. To give you an idea of how style-fixated I am, I can't remember setting tab stops or ...

Re: Indents
Are you seeing word wrap? The only way I've been able to make a paragraph jump to the left indent is to move the tab to the right far enough to wrap the first word to the second line. At that point, all the visible text in the paragraph is left aligned with a new leading blank line. The reader won't...

Re: List Styles
Interesting. Being a slacker, I've been quietly grumbling about the space between list items. As is probably obvious to everyone else, if you choose a paragraph style before starting the list, the vertical gap is set by the paragraph style's "space after" setting. A paragraph style with a ...

Re: infoclick update?
I uninstalled Nisus, used mdfind to nuke everything related to Nisus, and on reinstallation I didn't see the Infoclick prompt. It's possible I installed Infoclick at some point, but the more I think about it, the less likely I think that was. I'm pretty sure I never downloaded a trial. As far as I c...
