Re: Footnotes within Body Text
there are still some oddities in Scrivener's compile process and how it interacts with Nisus. Scriv wasn't very good with footnotes when I used an earlier version some years back, hence my use of the macro Hello Tacitus, If I understand you correctly, you seem to be inserting inline citations with ...

Re: Default Page Width for Opening Existing RTF Documents
My complaint is that every time I open one of these RTF documents for the first time, I have to then widen the window so the page can auto-size larger for me to work with is. Suggestion no. 1: If your Nisus New File was saved in Page View , then a double-click on the window’s title bar may be all y...

Re: Long delays on "Open": display of TOC
It is also possible that my document is becoming so complex that I should really be using a database, such as Devonthink. I use FileMaker Pro for projects like this. It is extremely flexible, and it works well with Nisus Writer Pro. I use DEVONthink Pro Office too, and I find it is good as a *conta...

Re: Long delays on "Open": display of TOC
Hello David, Splitting up the document is a possibility, but unless mistaken I would lose the ability to carry out "attribute sensitive" searches using Nisus's style tools, which as far as I know is not possible via Spotlight. Of course what would be really nice would be if Nisus's search ...

Re: can't open downloaded docx
Since you have already Preview and TextEdit installed, you can use Quick Look to view the text in these docx files without even opening them. Just select them in Finder and hit the spacebar.

Re: can't open downloaded docx
Hello Val, Your question is not quite clear. Are you using MS Word, but you can’t open emailed docx attachments that somebody sent to you? Or are you trying to use Nisus Writer Pro (NWP) to open these attachments because you don’t have Word? NWP can open files saved in the docx format, but shapes an...

Re: headers/footers
I would rather not have a header or footer on my page. … How to eliminate? Hi artful1, You can use either the mouse or the Headers-and-Footers-palette to do that. [1] Make sure Page Guides are shown. (View > Page Guides > Show Page Guides). Then just drag the header’s bottom line up until it disapp...

Re: New Document Defaults to Sections Palette Group
Is there any way to force a Nisus New File to open with the Formatting palette group selected — even though it was saved with the content of the header selected? I don’t keep my palettes in the Tooldrawer, so I can’t quickly test this; but have you switched the palette group to Formatting in: Nisus...

Re: Glossary issues, again
Hello Philip, Thanks for your comment. As always, much appreciated. I think you might be supposing wrongly. Pasting works with Latin characters, which makes this method convenient when troubleshooting. Pasting also works with Japanese, and the examples from credneb are always expanded correctly when...

Re: Glossary issues, again
Hello credneb, the following Japanese terms do not expand correctly […] 長さ−長さ加重平均繊維長 -> length−length-weighted mean length 長さ加重平均繊維長 -> length-weighted mean length Specifically, the "−" in the first term seems to break the expansion. So the first term always expands as the second, shorter ...

it means then pasting the copied text somewhere. I was looking rather for a way to convert the table itself into tab-delimited text, and I have since discovered that it is easy to do with LibreOffice. Click somewhere before the table and run the macro. This is exactly what LibreOffice does. # Conve...

Re: Export to epub problem
I had no trouble with centered and right aligned paragraphs displaying properly. This inspired me to do some more testing. I finally found out that the wrong heading alignment is related to the TOC. If a paragraph has a TOC level (where the level is either a part of a style or has been added manual...

Re: Lulu complains Mac Quartz PDF inferior, says use Acrobat
Interesting topic, WF. :) I have not used this service myself. Have you asked in one of the Lulu forums? There is an old thread there about creating a PDF on a Mac. The oldest post is from 2008 and the last one I found is from 2010. That in itself is rather strange. :? Anyway, one of Lulu's recommen...
