I'm just trying to think a little outside the box re: commenting and tracking changes and commenting. Are balloons the best way to implement? Is dumping them in the margins the best way?

Comments: A Question

Earlier today, I had a thought about comments this morning that I dashed off to Nisus and I'm wondering what folks here think. It seems to me that everyone approaches the comments in-line. It also seems to me that everyone hates the way comments are done. And yet people want them in-line. What if, i...

Craig's idea of a (menu-key-callable!) "comment" style is great! Craig, could you please share the macros you have written? My Word-using collaborators and I usually just highlight text by hand. They appear to dislike Word's comment and tracking system as much as I do. Steve That does see...

That seems to me clearly the best decision; there is just too much 'missing' or wrongly implemented in NWE to be considered for professional-quality work. I have to admire the doggedness of some users and the clever work-arounds they have described in this thread. But surely the state of the art of...

No, that's just a graphic we display on error pages. This is the new Nisus man graphic.

I think the other issue is that loads of folks will keep Word around simply for perfect compatibility and use Writer for the bulk of their writing. I keep Word and WordPerfect 3.5e on my machines but do 99% of my writing in NWE (except for table-y stuff because Writer doesn't have some of the advanc...

Well, if they do go with a tiered pricing system, I'd like for the names to be consistent:

Nisus Writer Pro
Nisus Writer Amateur

or maybe

Nisus Writer Dilettante

I know what you mean. I hate it when a company changes an application's name.

Not what I said. Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't responding to you, but instead to the general tenor of the thread. I've never been one to cotton to threads complaining about speculation about the pricing or features of unreleased products. The problem with an app like Writer is that everyone has...

I like the part where it hasn't been released yet and we don't know what the price is going to be.
