Re: Nisus vs Pages
For me, Pages has many annoyances. First, there's no option to do nothing on startup, so you have to close a window you don't want in the first place. If you close it so there is no window up, and go to another app, when you return to Pages, it re-opens the damn window you don't want again. :!: Seco...

Re: Document Could Not Be Opened
This MS-Word file not opening problem in NWP 1.3 was resolved when Martin suggested first dragging such files to the desktop. It turns out that it's not just a question of somewhat unusual characters in the file name, they also cause a problem in folder names in the path which contain a MS-Word file...

Re: Document Could Not Be Opened
If you can open those posted invoices, ntx, that suggests you are experiencing a different file opening problem. NWP 1.2 fails to open both those invoice documents on my ppc/Tiger machine, which is why I posted them. Like you, my console log says: " Nisus Writer Pro[193] * failed OOo conversion...

Re: Document Could Not Be Opened
Thanks dshan for your helpful replies. Why don't you open them in Pages and then save/export them as RTF files to open in Nisus? That way you won't lose the formatting. I've just found out that a .doc saved in Pages still doesn't OPEN. My latest copy of Pages (now 4.0.2) only gives me the two option...

Re: Document Could Not Be Opened
I use 10.4.11 on an obsolete G4 twin 867 and I've been having the very same problem ever since I updated to NWP 1.2 many months ago, actually 2008/11/06 - last year! Nisus know all about the problem, and they have told me that my problem files open fine for them. It's indeed connected with the new M...

Can I change the password for my Forum login
Hi,
I wish to change the password assigned to my Forum login. How do I do this?
I've searched on password to no avail, no can I see anything about this in my Control Panel.
I look forward to your response.
Warm regards,
Cris

Seeing the url previously assigned to a NWP Hyperlink
Hi, I have previously used NWP Menu /Insert /Hyperlink to insert quite a few clickable link into my text, which has been saved as a .doc. But although that text has gone blue and is underlined, how do I get to see what the link is? How do I check that these links have the right url? I ask because wh...

Re:
In my opinion aliasing the whole Application Support folder would definitely be the way to go. In fact, if I were you I'd see about changing the location of the entire Home folder in both OS versions to point to your separate data partition. I'm pretty sure such a thing is possible on OSX. Aliasing...

Re: Nisus Writer Pro 1.1 Released
In reply to the post about NWP1.1 on MacWorld at http://www.macworld.com/article/133584/2008/05/nisus.html?lsrc=mwweek I posted this reply on 2008/05/26: Hmmm. Last century, I too used to use the original Nisus Writer 6 on OS 9. Yet Mac OSX has been out a while now - I believe Apple stopped selling ...

Importing Microsoft Word documents
I import lots of MS-Word .docs from other people which all seem to be written in Windows. And I also have MS-Office so I can see how they originally looked. Yet every such .doc with a graphic imported in NWP seems to need re-formatting. Only if there's no graphic do they seem to be more or less fine...

The location of the Application Support folder is defined by the system to be inside your home directory. I imagine you have plans to keep your home directory consistent between OS versions, and this should present no problems to NWP. I'm actually wondering if all I need do is to alias the Nisus AS...

(ii) if you are the sort of person who leaves your computer running for long periods with a text-processing app open, while you may be opening and closing individual files, you will be incrementally taking up more and more RAM leading to the use of virtual memory and a lot of swapping out to disk, ...

The message is clear -- if you are still on a G4 or G5, don't go to Leopard. Stay with Tiger. Recently, I upgraded to OS 10.5.2. And now, regretfully, I've decided to take greenmorpher's advice and stay (revert) to 10.4.11 until Leopard's serious performance degradation problems have been resolved....

Something I don't see in the newsletter is the inclusion of hyperlinks and bookmarks when generating a PDF file. This is one of the most important missing features for me. Paolo I have already requested clickable hyperlinks as a feature request for a future release. If enough of us let Nisus know t...
