I just checked, and Mariner, Mellel, Papyrus, and Ragtime all have a splash screen.
Hey, it was something to do late on Saturday night!

I would also like to see an Intel-only version of NWP (or at least the importer).

Re: NWP as default application
Howdy. In the Finder, Control+click on a .doc file and choose Get Info... In the resulting window, about ⅔ of the way down, it says “open with” select whatever application you want to use (i.e. Word), then click the box below “Always open with”.

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs
Greetings. Looks like we both might be right. Nested Styles allows the user to adjust the length of the run-in, by using the "up to" portion, and then including something special, like the en-space. So in your example it would work. I was thinking using “styles“ for TOC,“ which it does; bu...

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs
Just a note: InDesign 6 (part of CS4) includes what is called nested styles, which allows run-in headings. Some essential layout features are still missing, like titles extending over more columns, side headings, run-in headings.

It might be good if Dave or Martin could notify officially them of compatibility with SL: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/

Re: Nisus vs Pages
I would probably opt for Papyrus. It handles that kind of stuff very well. Runs on both Mac and Windows, and runs in RAM, which makes it super fast.rickl wrote:What about academic documents that contain a lot of graphics? Would you veer towards Pages or Nisus?

Re: changing styles doesn't work for me
Just a thought: After selecting all paragraphs with that style, can you go to Format > Remove Attributes and Styles? And while it is still selected, can you apply a new style that way?

Re: Nisus Writer and technical writing
I have both Ragtime and Papyrus and have used both for projects over the past three years. Ragtime worked better for shorter projects (for me), like newsletters. This past year I began working with it for longer projects and finally was able to set it up the way I desired. Recently my work demanded ...

Re: [OT] Page layout & first line indent
Yes, I took it as a new paragraph symbol as well, :) but which paragraph style is proper is the question. Should the paragraph style that follows a quote be flush left like paragraph 1 is in the example, or should it have the first line indented paragraph style, like paragraph 3 in the example? Thus...
